PNB Research Institute (PNBRI) and the Institute for Youth Research Malaysia (IYRES) recently collaborated for the Roundtable Discussion (RTD) titled Menoktahkan Kemiskinan, Mencipta Peluang Masa Depan Belia.
The RTD brought together nearly 200 participants, including policymakers, researchers, and youth stakeholders, to deepen understanding of youth poverty and work toward actionable solutions. The session recognised that youth poverty is not a single issue, sitting at the intersection of unemployment, wage stagnation, rising cost of living, and limited access to opportunity.
The session produced shared recommendations to government agencies and ministries spanning job creation, wage reform, TVET, inclusive employment, research, and broader youth outreach, affirming a commitment to building a more resilient and prosperous future for Malaysia's youth.
During the session, Dr Mohd Amirul Rafiq Abu Rahim, Associate Director of Research at PNBRI, presented research findings on the current challenges faced by youth, while Puan Farhana Roslan, Director of Research at PNBRI, served as moderator for the panel discussion.
This collaboration reflects PNBRI's ongoing commitment to supporting national efforts to build a better future for Malaysia's youth, and we look forward to a continued partnership with IYRES and the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS).
