PNBRI, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing research in Malaysia’s agri-food sector.
The MoU was signed by KPKM Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Isham Ishak, while PNBRI was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Sarena Che Omar. The ceremony was witnessed by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Datuk Seri Haji Mohamad Sabu, and PNB Group Chairman, Raja Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Arshad Raja Tun Uda, at Menara Merdeka 118, Kuala Lumpur.
Under this MoU, PNBRI will gain access to vital national agri-food data from KPKM to support analysis and generate relevant insights into Malaysia’s agri-food sector. The scope of collaboration includes knowledge sharing in agri-food research, the development of agricultural technical and vocational education and training (TVET), and the utilisation of data from the 2024 Agriculture Census.
This partnership is aligned with the National Agri-Food Policy 2021–2030 (NAP 2.0), which forms part of KPKM’s strategy to strengthen the research and innovation ecosystem in the agri-food sector, support agricultural digitalisation, unlock new opportunities, and help chart a stronger direction for the future of agriculture in Malaysia.
